The institution began its work by educating children living at the railway station and those who survived by collecting garbage.
Vishal Bharat Shansthan has been working for (more than) 37 years for the poor, disadvantaged and deprived children. Shansthan has worked for the most vulnerable Ragpicker and their family. The organisation helped children for the education, health and freedom form drug addiction, some of them were also involved in child labour.

Under the "Pet Bharo Andolan", the Anaj Bank was established as an organized model to save people from hunger.
Currently, the Children's Bank has 1,838 savings accounts, providing a strong foundation for financial literacy and responsibility.
The Bharatvanshi initiative is conducted as a 10-day training program to instill values of nationalism, & civic responsibility in children.
